I forgot how terrible looking for a job is, especially when no one wants a ChemE with 2.5 years frac experience. Everyone is like you should have no problem finding a job, yeah not true. At least I don’t have a job I hate anymore, but being on unemployment sucks. Someone hire me. Picture is what I used to do.

Do you get a lot of headaches on the sites? My buddy lives out in Cali and when they opened up not too far from his house he saw a spike in headaches. He didn’t even realize the correlation until a couple years after.

Best of luck in the job search.

Truth. The myth that a college degree means an automatic job needs to die. It took me over a year after I graduated to find a decent-paying job, and it wasn’t even close to being in my field. That was 7 years ago, and I still haven’t found a job in my field.

Hmm...this probably isn’t cheering you up much. Here’s a hilarious Car Bros video!

Best of luck, man.

Best of luck mate. I’m also looking for a job and can tell it sucks. Mechanical Engineer with just 6 months of experience.

Have you looked at doing downstream at a plant or doing EPC work? Both pay less, but plant work is generally stable. Plus you can live in wonderful places such as Texas City, Robstown, or Matagorda!

Upstream is impossible right now.

Nope, never got any headaches. I did get stressed out a lot, but that came with the job.

Figure out what you are better at than your peers, what interests you, and then go find the company that needs that thing. PS, you may have to move.

All things being equal, pick a company that is profitable and a segment leader. How about being a sales rep for a pump and valve company......

I’ve looked, haven’t found anything. I lived in both Alice Texas and Corpus Christi, hated both places.

Alice LOL! Oh jeez you poor thing. Corpus blows, but it beats everything else down there.

Downstream is all who you know, but if you’re willing to move to those places it helps. EPCs are tough to get into as projects are pretty light, but there is a lot of LNG work going on. Fluor, CB&I, Jacobs, KBR, Bechtel, Wood Group, and Technip all made huge cuts, but are fairly busy as of now. There is hiring in Houston surprisingly, although it’s still not easy. Looked at getting a recruiter?

This may be s shot in the dark but look these guys up. https://workforcenow.adp.com/jobs/apply/pos…

They have been in desalination for a while but recently made some interesting moves into the Fracking world.

I live in the Marcellus shale region and all the transplants from Texas gas and oil Companies are being recalled back to Texas. The local companies are adapting to the gas/oil slow down, but the western state companies are pulling back to save resources. Good luck.

Try an entry level position at a top 500 engineering firm like CH2MHILL, AECOM Arcadis etc..... seriously these guys are looking for fresh kill all the time. Pay is okay depending on location you should be looking at $50-60k starting with crappy health insurance and no retirement.

just looks like a bunch of big blue trucks down at the ol’ watering hole.

blue trucks, frac experience, you didn’t perhaps work for an oil company named for two french brothers?

Also, divide your salary by 10,000...that’s a good rule of thumb for how long an average unemployment period will be given the industry economics currently. Although they are improving kinda.

What segment you work in? I was surprised I lasted until April, I figured I was going to be one of the first to get laid off, I was a smart ass and probably committed a fireable offense daily. I don’t miss working there and fuck Ejourney and QUEST. Speaking of quest, we slip a 6" joint a missile on that pad.

lol, I do IT support for some real-time exploration and production systems. I’m actually the problem manager for our department, so QUEST is my daily grind :S
